The mission of the St. John Chamber of Commerce is:

• to cultivate an economic climate that is conducive to the growth and development of our business community. We will create a spirit of teamwork among our members to advance our commitment to private enterprise, enhance the quality of life within our community, and promote mutually beneficial relationships between business and the community through government interaction and community service.
• to serve the interests of our member businesses through progressive leadership and to influence economic, governmental, work force and community issues for the benefit of the region's business environment.
• to foster prosperity for our members and quality of life for our community by providing programs, services, and activities through our network of volunteers, which are of value to the Chamber membership and the community as a whole, by creating a business climate in which diversely owned businesses can develop, network, and work together as a community, and by encouraging a cooperative local government climate favorable to and understanding of the needs of the business community.
• to be the most valuable resource and leading advocate for businesses throughout our community by promoting the development of new business and commercial growth, the retention and expansion of existing businesses, and a working partnership with the Town of St. John in order to enhance the quality of the economic life within our community.
• to serve as the unified voice of the business community, encourage ethical business practices, maintain and enhance a strong socially responsible business climate based on the principles of free enterprise, fair profit and job creation for businesses of all sizes, and enhance the economic vitality and quality of life through varied programs and services that benefit members and the business community at large.
• to promote positive economic growth, defined as the planned and responsible development of new and existing commerce, uphold the importance of effective and affordable education so as to enhance the quality and potential of our workforce, create an environment that supports the rights of businesses and professionals to earn a reasonable profit and support the belief that the derived commerce enriches our economy and community, and foster a strong commitment to volunteerism in order to positively impact the community and perpetuate organizations whose existence is contingent on a strong volunteer effort.
• to provide partnership opportunities through programs and services designed to meet our members' business goals by setting and meeting the highest expectations, respecting and protecting community resources, fostering honesty and trustworthiness in all actions and intents, and acting with the strength of conviction and commitment to furthering the economic development of our community.
